This holiday season, we hope you choose to keep local businesses in mind for your holiday celebrations & gifting.  I've always had a hard time buying local for the holidays - mostly because I didn't know what was out there!

So this year, we decided to put together a list of some of the (perhaps) lesser-known shops & services that we know of, just to help get the word out on what we have right here in our community.

There are SO many more beyond the places we've selected, so whether you shop here or with another local establishment, thank you for supporting the small businesses of Whatcom County!

How to support small businesses - without spending money:

FOLLOW on social media

LIKE & COMMENT when you see something beautiful, interesting or worthy of praise. This really helps small business posts be seen in the algorithm-driven swirl!

TAG a friend in the commends if you see a product they might like.

RECOMMEND that your friends & family shop locally

...and when you do shop:

MENTION the store/artisan/supplier in an Instagram story or TAG them in a post.

WRITE A REVIEW of a great experience.

When you support small local businesses, you build the unique identity of a community.  You help create jobs right here in our county. You vote for the quality and customer service that small shops provide - places where you’re on a first-name basis with the owner. You see local businesses and local professionals in turn sponsoring nonprofits, donating to children’s programs, and funding community efforts. Your purchasing dollars go to people who live in your area, and you support diverse, one-of-a-kind products - products made with heart and services provided with care.
