Our Story



How it all began

It all started when Leo Cohen, formerly a lead inside sales agent for a large team, split off to start his own business. He joined forces with Christopher Lee, our efficient and detail-oriented Director of Operations, and the two have since developed and grown the Bham RE Co into the operation it is today.

As a team, we each have our specialties, but we share the same values: integrity, compassion, authenticity, and perseverance. We strive to create lasting relationships with our clients and business partners, and to be the kind of professionals you don’t hesitate to tell your friends about.

Locally grown

We love what we do and we love where we live. When you work with us, you work with a small business anchored right here in Bellingham. (If you’re shopping from afar, we’d love to show you the local hotspots and introduce you to some of our trusty friends who provide professional services and own some pretty cool small businesses right here in town.

On any given weekend you might spot a Bham RE Co team member in our logo jackets or beanies, sipping drinks at Overflow Taps in Barkley or Woods Coffee, on the trails at Galbraith Mountain or Lake Padden, golfing at one of the gorgeous courses in our county, or rolling up to a community event like Downtown Sounds.

Our areas of service have expanded from core Bellingham neighborhoods into all of western Whatcom and Skagit counties, especially into new construction projects in the Blaine area, as we work to help bring new housing options to our community.

Giving back

After every transaction, our team donates a portion of our commissions to charity:water, an organization dedicated to bringing clean water systems to developing regions around the world. Our Clean Water Happy Hour provides safe drinking water globally while creating community locally. Leo also works with top leaders in the area to provide advice and wisdom to business owners across our community, through the Building Bellingham Podcast.
