CGNW Recommends: Bramble Berry
I’ll be honest: up until a couple months ago I didn’t know this business existed. Anne-Marie Faiola was our guest on Episode 5 of Building Bellingham, and in the process of producing that episode, our team learned a lot about this CEO and the business she’s grown right here in Whatcom County.
Bramble Berry started out as just Anne-Marie in her kitchen on her hours off from shift work at a correctional center. Making soap and selling the bars in farmers markets served as the balance to the stresses of law enforcement, and later became her full-time enterprise. Now, Anne-Marie is the Soap Queen, a 20-year expert in the art and science of soapmaking, and Bramble Berry sells soapmaking kits to crafters and artisans of all experience levels.
You can find dozens of instructional videos on YouTube for everything from charcoal facial soap to beeswax soap, bubble bath bars to bath fizzy cupcakes. Also, take in all the visual goodness on Bramble Berry’s Instagram.

The team created the beginner-level Berry Swirl Soap project (and an advanced one also) in honor of the company’s twentieth anniversary. Anne-Marie sent us a few bars and let me tell you - the blackberry purple and creamy lavender colors render beautifully and the scent is divine. Just might be the perfect gift on your Christmas shopping list!
