CGNW Recommends: Caffe Adagio
Caffe Adagio is a longstanding staple in Bellingham. On the corner of Champion St and Railroad, this cafe stands at the end of a long line of Bellingham favorites - Casa Que Pasa, Avellino, the Bagelry, and Avenue Bread.
While Caffe Adagio doesn’t have its own website or official social media pages, its happy fans have ensured that reviews, check-ins, and photos are still spread across Facebook, Instagram, Tripadvisor, Yelp and Google. You can see photos of latte art, read praises for the high-quality brews, and hear the community’s thoughts on this quaint little place.
What makes this particular spot special among all the myriad of cafes that populate Whatcom County, is the old world aesthetic. The vintage world map over the leather couch, the neurtral color palette and the Venice-inspired artwork on a dappled stucco wall all create a cafe ambiance unlike the other options we have in our town.
Lastly, the name. Adagio is a musical tempo. Faster than lento (“slow”) and slower than andante (“at a walking pace”), adagio welcomes guests to relax the tempo of their day, come into the cafe, and pause.
