Infrastructure Update Roundup | Q1 2023
Welcome to the first-quarter roundup of our Infrastructure Updates, where we bring you information on parks, multimodal improvements, the Bellingham Waterfront development, and other capital projects from the City of Bellingham and Whatcom County.
JANUARY 2023 In this month’s episode we cover the City Council’s change to the Commercial Street parking garage permit fees (they’re lower - yay!), new park properties purchased by the City, and proposed changes to the ADU code, and the official new name for a 17-acre park on the Bellingham waterfront.

FEBRUARY 2023
New stormwater projects, multimodal intersection improvements, and the new name for the Maplewood-McLeod Park, which construction is anticipated to begin in 2024. Site plants are available for viewing on the project webpage.

MARCH 2023
March’s update is (almost) all about the 2023-2027 Consolidated Plan, which is available for public commentary up until March 31, 2023. The Consolidated Plan is an outline of the City of Bellingham’s priorities for spending $9 million (annually) of WA State funds in accordance with HUD guidelines.
