Join us in celebrating these milestones with some great local small businesses, and share your news for next month’s roundup! (Missed November’s news update? Catch up right here)
NEW BUSINESS: Beer Fridge
Leo and Jake Bassett first connected two years ago (and Leo was a guest on Jake’s podcast!) and have met up to talk all things business and marketing over beers ever since.
We’re thrilled that Jake & his business partner Travis have JUST launched BeerFridge, a subscription service for craft beers from local breweries all around the country. Follow the adventure on Instagram and join their email list for updates!
ANNIVERSARY: Structures Brewing
Happy 6 years!
COMING SOON (to brick & mortar): Slice of Heaven
Marci is working on the Captain Bellingham building and rumor has it, she’ll be opening around the first of the year. Of course, renovations and buildouts can get delayed, so follow her Instagram and stay tuned for the grand opening announcement in a future local business news update! Instagram | Website
SPECIAL FEATURE: Holiday Shopping
Over the last week we’ve been in touch with small businesses who still have capacity for local orders between now and Christmas Day. We’re only 10 days out people! but there’s still an opportunity to choose local for your holiday hospitality and giving.
MW Soapworks - Some of their bestselling soap is still in stock; they also have beard oil, bath sales PLUS, items from about 35 independent local makers are available in their store on Commercial St. Instagram | Website
Art & Happiness - has crafting and cardmaking supplies; also Elli let me know she has local artwork coming in this week so it may have arrived already! If you haven’t met Elli in person, she’s practically a Christmas elf in human form and it’s always a delight to visit her store. Instagram | Website
Anytime Toffee - local pickup and they’re also carried in several local stores - you can get a list on the Anytime Toffee website. They have a Holiday Set too, which has four gift boxes of toffee including Peppermint, Orange and Gingerbread flavors. Instagram | Website
Boardworks Tech Shop - Mount Baker Ski Area opening day is TODAY and Boardworks Tech Shop has all the gifts for the snowboarder in your life. Instagram | Website
Grace Unfaded - Christa handmakes clay and brass earrings from her home in Lynden and there’s a CHRISTMAS collection! ***There’s a sitewide sale going on right now, that ends at 11:59PM Thursday 12/16!*** Instagram | Website
Widnor Farms - Okay, locally sourced meat, honey, beeswax candles, yarn, milk and eggs - yes please! Widnor Farms is in Custer, really close to the Birch Bay-Lynden Rd exit of I-5. You can shop on their website and pick up when the farm store is open - Saturdays 10-2. ALSO: you have the option to choose local delivery at checkout, and how awesome is that? Instagram | Website
NW Corner Goods - all things Bellingham; one of the owners is the guy who designed the Bellingham flag! They’re open Weds-Saturday and I have it on good authority (ie a DM on Instagram) that they’ll be open all the way to Christmas Eve next week. Instagram | Website
MaryGold Tales - okay, how gorgeous are these holiday cards? She has a Fa-la-la-llama card and we ordered her Warm Wishes card set just this morning. All the designs begin as a hand-painted watercolor in her studio in Ferndale. She also does free local pickup! Instagram | Website
Rubbish to Rubies - handcut charcuterie serving boards and handcrafted wooden Christmas decor. Instagram | Etsy
Graze & Gather - Lydia is offering a mini charcuterie box for those last-minute gifts for teachers, hairdressers, bus drivers, etc. She’ll even write a personal message on the card for you. Trust me, this will be enjoyed a lot more than another mug. Instagram | Website
Shoutout to Kelsey Tolsma over at Red Barn Market Events for introducing me to some of these amazing businesses that have participated in her holiday markets. Instagram | Facebook
